Gratitude Blogging to Battle Stress

American Author, Melody Beattie, once said, “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

She is right. Discontentment creates stress and stress eats away at our soul. One of the best ways to get around this problem is to start a gratitude blog.

This may seem difficult to do when your life seems to be falling apart around you. Yet, it is during times like these that gratitude blogging is especially necessary. You might be stressed out that you are about to lose your job and you might not have money to pay the bills.

But stop for a second and blog about being grateful that you have a house to live in while others are homeless. Or be grateful that you have eyes to see while blind people must live a life of darkness.

There are opportunities to be grateful all around you. The sad truth is that most of us never stop to be grateful for all that we have. Once you have a gratitude blog, you will be forced to take stock of your life and find things to be grateful about.

It is almost impossible to be stressed out and have an attitude of gratitude at the same time. Blogging about what you have and being grateful for it will elevate your thoughts. This is not a Pollyanna approach to life.

It may be true that your life is stressful and there are impending problems. You will not be able to wish these problems away. You do not even need to like being where you are… but you can look at the positive side of things and see what is good in your life.

It will not make the problems go away, but it will make you feel better. That is how a gratitude blog helps you. It does not make the problems disappear. It just reduces stress, makes you more positive, energizes you… and gives you the strength to keep going.

Once you are not bogged down by stress, you will start looking for ways and means to fix the problems in your life. The gratitude blog is a torch that will shine a bright beam of light that disperses the fog of worry and despair in your life.

It will prevent you from spiraling down a slippery slope of self-pity and depression. Gratitude will allow you to be happy with what you currently have and then seek to improve your current situation.

This is vastly different from focusing on what you do not have or looking at the possible misfortunes which might ensnare you. Make gratitude blogging a habit. When you are feeling down, it will serve as a sanctuary that you can retreat into.

After 20 minutes of blogging about what you are grateful for, you will discover that you do not need to worry so much. You are a survivor, and you will get through whatever life throws at you.

Fill your blog with motivational posts, stories of miracles and success, etc. By constantly seeing and reading these, you will find that your optimism increases and your outlook on life improves.
